SELF-RETRACTING LIFELINES

The safest method for a worker to be protected from a fall is by using a self retracting lifeline along with a full-body harness. A spring tensioned cable/web lanyard retracts back into the block as the worker moves toward the unit and pulls out as the worker moves away. If the worker should fall, the sudden jerk in the lanyard activates the braking mechanisms and the worker is brought to a stop. Several models of self retracting lifelines are available; all meet or exceed ANSI and OSHA requirements.
